Who is Chris?
Christopher Siu is an award-winning composer & songwriter, arranger & orchestrator, educator, adjudicator, and classically-trained pianist & accompanist. His projects span a variety of mediums, from media scoring to the concert hall.
As a soloist, Chris' classical piano upbringing resulted in numerous top awards and grand prizes at competitions across Canada and the United States. Achieving his ARCT Diploma with Distinction at the age of 14, Chris has had the opportunity to perform in Toronto's Roy Thomson Hall and the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, as well as on Glenn Gould's own piano and with the NYCO Symphony Orchestra.
Chris is also an active collaborative pianist, covering a variety of classical and contemporary repertoire. He regularly accompanies at festivals and recitals, working closely with musicians to bring out the best in every performance. He has also served as an adjudicator at various festivals, sharing his insight and experience through an active and encouraging approach. Recent engagements include the Toronto Kiwanis Music Festival, Unionville Music Competition, and Take the Stage Festival, among others.
As a composer and producer, Chris has had the pleasure of working alongside some of the most talented musicians around the world, including Tina Guo (cellist for Hans Zimmer Live), Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy), Yuzo Koshiro (Smash Bros), Austin Wintory (Journey), Anne-Kathrin Dern (The Claus Family), and David Wise (Donkey Kong Country).
A few of his credits include original music for Hallmark's 'Her Pen Pal', along with the Dark Dice series (winning 'Best Original Score' at the 2022 Signal Awards). In addition, Chris' very first Symphonina (a multi-movement symphony spanning approximately 10 minutes) was selected as the winner of the '2025 Best Symphonina of the Year Composer Competition', while a recent performance of his original song 'Nothing's Impossible' earned the highest mark at an esteemed music festival (from over 120 songs and performances).
As an educator, Chris' is committed to empowering composers to produce incredible orchestral music. He's created multiple programs covering composition, orchestration, mixing, and business skills, which can be explored under 'Courses and Community' at the top of this page.
