What if you could write incredible music by ear?

Find the exact chords and melodies for your music, understand the orchestra intimately, and mix with complete confidence.

"I encountered challenges in accurately transcribing harmony by ear before taking Transformative Ear Training. Chris has provided an excellent and structured path that guided me through this process.
What truly stands out about this course is its well-paced approach. Chris not only presents multiple methods and examples but also ensures complete clarity by walking us through practical exercises.
I wholeheartedly recommend this course to anyone struggling with ear training. Thank you Chris for this wonderful learning experience!"
- Ilyas Haddadi (composer)

Believe it or not, your ear is THE secret weapon to creating great music.

Your initial reaction might be, "Really? Is that true?"

Yes indeed! But I would completely understand this reaction. Many composers believe that their problems stem from:

  • An inability to write memorable melodies that stick with your audience
  • Writing chord progressions that seem lifeless, static, and don't support your melodies
  • Choosing the wrong instruments when orchestrating your piece, resulting in lacklustre arrangements
  • Creating mixes that sound flat and can't compare to professional tracks we hear every day

And while these problems certainly exist in many amateur tracks, we have to ask: what is at the ROOT of all these problems?

The thing is, these issues are all EXTERNAL, instead of focusing INTERNALLY on the source of why these problems happen in the first place, and how to prevent them.

So what is that source?

The answer is simple: an undeveloped & untrained ear, causing you to second-guess every decision you make and holding your music back from its fullest potential.

Have you ever wondered why so many composers seem to know exactly what they're doing?

The thing is: they know what they want, and they know exactly HOW to achieve what they want.

They're not sitting around for hours debating ideas, struggling to translate what they hear in their head into their DAW, or searching for endless orchestration and mixing tutorials to find the next revolutionary technique.

Their ear is developed to the point where they can play anything on command, choose any instrument they might need for their orchestrations, and make the right mixing decisions, every time.

This is why developing your inner ear is CRUCIAL to becoming a well-rounded composer.

 I've personally experienced these benefits.

Ear training has always been an integral part of my life. From my childhood days in classical piano training to the present, I've always listened, analyzed, and applied what I learned to my own music.

It comes down to consistent practice and listening critically. When you do this, you'll be able to:

  • Write exactly what you hear in you head (melody, harmony, and rhythm at the same time)
  • Play accurately by ear with speed and ease (using both hands)
  • Choose the appropriate instrumentation when orchestrating, bringing out the best in your ideas and creating a satisfying listening experience
  • Create polished, detailed mixes every time
  • Speed up your workflow, maintaining inspiration and creative flow

If you're still struggling with any of these areas, I have something special for you.

I've taken my years of classical training and composing experience and packaged everything into a cohesive, practical system that will streamline the way you write music forever.

Welcome to Transformative Ear Training.

A comprehensive method to developing your inner ear so you can write, orchestrate, and mix with confidence.

"This course covers all of the aspects of ear training that need to be developed in conceptualizing, writing, arranging and mixing a finished piece of music.

Each module focuses on a different part of the listening process. The melody, harmony, and rhythm modules not only provide a thorough foundation, but also include quizzes so that you can identify your strengths and focus on areas of development.

The 'Internalizing the Orchestra' module provides multiple examples on how to listen to the various sections so that you can write in a way where each section complements the other sections. The final chapter on mixing demonstrates a system for analyzing music and provides valuable insights in the mixing process so that your completed piece of music is balanced and musically pleasing.

This course offers valuable listening tools for composers of all skill levels. I highly recommend it!"

Below each video, you'll also see a written summary of what's covered, so you can recap what you've learned before moving on.

"This course is systematic and practical, which gives me not only methods but also mindsets, so I can just start practicing immediately with no confusion. Although I just started less than a month ago, I've made progress in recognizing melodies and chords.
I definitely want to keep going and introduce this course to my friends."

- Winfrid Zhao (composer)

Transformative Ear Training is perfect for you if:

  • You're struggling with translating your ideas quickly and accurately to your DAW
  • You want to be able to transcribe full songs by ear, making listening and composing a breeze
  • You want complete confidence in your orchestration decisions, knowing every instrument is contributing to the arrangement in the right way
  • You want to create incredible mixes using the core tools you already have in your DAW

This course is NOT for you if:

  • You're expecting results without putting in the work. Watching this program without applying it will do you no good. You may gain head knowledge, but without practicing it on your own, you'll be exactly where you are a year from now.
  • You're expecting results overnight. Training our ears is like training in the gym - you'll see steady results over the long term (up to 2-3 years). There's no shortcut - it may not take you 2-3 years (you'll likely see results within a few months), but it does require commitment and patience.
  • You're looking for a notation-based program. This course takes place primarily through slide presentations and in the DAW, so there's no need to be able to read sheet music!

So how much does Transformative Ear Training cost?

Hopefully by this point, you can see how important developing your ear is. But the obvious question is: “How much does this course cost?”

Well, if you wanted to study music at a college or university, a course on theory or orchestration could cost you upwards of $4,000 for a single semester. Over the course of a 4-year degree, that can bring you up to nearly $40,000 (which is what I paid for my piano performance degree)!
Another example - I attended a one-week songwriting workshop a few years ago at the Berklee College of Music. Guess how much that cost me, after all expenses were paid? Right around $3,000 (again, for just 1 week)! That's a hefty chunk of change, no matter how you look at it.
Heck, you know as well as I do that a solid workhorse sample library can run you at least $500 (for strings alone), and so completing your orchestra can total upwards of $2,000 when all is said and done, not to mention miscellaneous libraries and tools (DAW, MIDI controller, monitors, etc).
My own personal coaching programs begin at $2,000 per month, but I wanted to share these concepts with you in a digestible, affordable way so you can get started instantly. In order to make this a no-brainer deal, if you purchase today, you'll get instant and lifetime access to the entire Transformative Ear Training program for a one-time payment of $247.

"I purchased the course a few days ago, and I'm 100% motivated and enjoying the content. There is very important advice that I never paid attention to since I'd always learnt on my own. What I love is that Christopher also teaches how to train your ear to recognize instruments, articulations, layered instruments, etc. That's gold!

I have a fairly good piano level, but never felt confident. Now I exactly know what I need to do to be able to improvise more easily and be creative when composing.
It's like learning a language; you can sing a song in a foreign language that you learnt by heart without understand anything of what you are saying, or you can start learning the language properly to be able to speak fluently and give sense to all what you say and hear. That's the same, once you have developed your ears, you can listen and understand the technical structures and harmonies that composers use, and reproduce them. That skill boosts your musicianship.

And Christopher is always there to answer your questions, contrary to some other courses where you are on your own. I first hesitated, but then I wanted to give myself a chance, and this course gives me a perfect framework. Thanks Christopher!"
- Raphael (composer)

Seeing as this course is based online, you can absolutely access this course on any device, as long as you have a stable internet connection.

Do I need to be able to read music to take this course?

Nope! While reading music is always a plus, this course is based in critical listening and singing, so you can follow along no matter what.

"I am a big fan of Christopher Siu and his courses in general for his open and enthusiastic approach to teaching and the clarity of his presentations. He obviously puts in a lot of hard work in crafting each offering and each module and it produces results.

Transformative Ear Training is one his latest courses and right off the bat I had a breakthrough that caught me by surprise. Chris' suggestion that my own voice is the best instrument to train my ear was a game changer for me. I should say that I am a concert level piano technician with 45 years of experience so I have a pretty good ear!

It is very important to revisit the basics and apply them to your music to make this seamless. This course reinforces all the underlying principles of good ear training and then takes it one step further. Chris guides us through the musical thinking process with informative examples and engaging screens bringing the training to life.

If there is one big takeaway I have from this course, it's that I am learning to trust my ear and recognize this as the primary key in my music making.

For me this has been a transformative experience and I am most appreciative."

"Christopher Siu's latest course 'Transformative Ear Training' is something I didn’t quite realize I needed.
Taking this course takes me back to my music college days but with a new focus, that of a composer. Christopher’s clear and no-nonsense teaching style helps you get through the very basic but necessary music theory elements of ear training with intervals, scales and chords. For beginners, it is well explained enough to get going and for more advanced musicians, it serves as a nice refresher.
Things got really interesting for me when I got to the chord inversions. Although common enough for musicians that play keyboard or guitar, as a cellist, I got reminded of my weakness in really quickly identifying the inversions. I got flashbacks from my music college days where we would do solfège and various musical dictation exercises and the one where I always struggled was chord dictation. It does seem so clear right now, and yet I have neglected this aspect of ear training for literally decades!
This course is such a great idea, putting together the different elements from basic theory all the way to training you about the quality of the sound itself with regards to mixing.
Thanks for reminding me that I need to train my ear, not only about pitch and melody or doing daily training in Soundgym for EQ and frequency, but seeing it as a whole and getting harmonic training back on the menu."

- Philippe Mius (cellist & composer)

Imagine a year from today...

If you could write anything you heard in your head with ease, choose the exact instruments for your arrangement that you know will work, and mix with complete confidence, would that be worth it to you?

Imagine what that would do for your confidence! For me, I know that I can trust my ear when making music, not just because I trained it heavily through my classical program when I was younger, but because I've been listening to music and the orchestra for years! I want to help you shortcut the process and give you all the essential tools you need to grow quickly.

If you know me, I like to keep things simple while achieving real results using a tried-and-true repeatable workflow, which is exactly what I promise with this program.

If you're ready to develop your inner ear once and for all, there's no better time than now to join us.

I'll be here to help every step of the way. See you on the inside!

Take care,

"One of my main challenges as a new composer has been how to efficiently translate the music I hear in my head into an actual score.
I've been working through the Transformative Ear Training course and have definitely found it useful for narrowing down the chords and intervals I'm hearing!
It's not an instantaneous solution, but does provide exercises and techniques to start improving your ear, whether you're writing your own music or transcribing someone else's.
I'm looking forward to putting the lessons to use in the coming months as I keep practicing."
- Alex (composer)
